Having the pod in one hand while cleaning overhead with the other makes it far more comfortable than we’ve experienced with many other cordless vacuums. Though when we used it for very high cleaning, the wand did start to feel heavy after prolonged use. Having said that, you can use it without the wand for areas that are easier to reach. Dyson cordless vacuums typically have a longer run time than Shark models, but even the Dyson V11 Outsize will only last around 15 minutes if you continuously use it on the Boost mode. The newest Dyson models claim to have a run time of 60 minutes, whereas the latest Shark cordless vacuums have a maximum battery life of 40 minutes. Emptying the dust cup on any vacuum isn’t exactly fun and that’s why it’s important to consider the size of the dust bin on a new vacuum cleaner. Dyson cordless vacuums take the trophy here with bigger dust cups (the Dyson Outsize Absolute has a capacity of 0.5 gallons, whereas the Shark Pet Plus holds up to 0.085 gallons of dust and dirt.
The dustbin is compact and it’ll need emptying regularly. During testing, we frequently had to manually pull out the dirt that got trapped inside due to tangled hair, making it quite a messy job. When you buy directly from Shark, your warranty is automatically registered, so there's nothing for you to do. These accessories unfortunately aren't stored on board the vacuum, which is a slight frustration. Nevertheless, the crevice tool is useful for reaching into narrow gaps and the dusting brush means you can utilize the vacuum to rid hard surfaces of dust. The pet multi-tool is handy for upholstery as well as pet beds.Now the negative part... and it all has to do with shark customer support and product support in general. One of Shark’s most popular features is now also available cord-free. Lift the cannister away from the wand to easily clean underneath furniture with continuously powered brush-rolls, and transform into a portable vacuum to clean sofas, stairs and soft furnishings in comfort.
